When is the best time to visit Kidepo valley National Park
Best Time to Visit Kidepo Valley National Park: Interested in exploring Kidepo? Kidepo Valley National Park is situated around 700 kilometers from Kampala, Uganda’s capital, amid the mountainous, semi-arid valleys of northeastern Uganda, bordering South Sudan and Kenya. It is the most underexplored of all the national parks in Uganda and one of Africa’s genuine wildernesses. Upon reading this introduction, one may inquire: why is Kidepo underexplored, and why do fewer individuals visit this authentic wilderness? The response is: numerous reasons!
The 700-kilometer trek was previously unappealing due to inadequate road conditions and limited hotel options within or near the park, which included only one luxury facility and a few rudimentary options. Kidepo National Park was formerly little promoted to the global audience compared to subsequent initiatives. You have perused travel blogs and even watched impressive videos about Kidepo National Park in Uganda and are contemplating a visit, but are uncertain about the optimal time to explore Kidepo Valley National Park. Here is your response:
The best time for game viewing at Kidepo National Park is the dry season, namely in July and August, when wildlife congregates around water sources. In the rainy season, animals migrate from the valleys to elevated and arid terrain, where they are less visible. It is important to note that these are the two hottest months, characterized by the most adverse weather conditions, with an average temperature of 27.5°C and daily fluctuations ranging from 21.5°C to 34°C, resulting in extreme heat and dustiness.
Visiting Kidepo during the brief rainy season from September to December is also possible in the luxury of our 4X4 safari vehicles. Let us evaluate the seasons by examining the benefits and drawbacks of visiting Kidepo throughout specific months of the year.
