Ngezi nature trail trekking, the Ngezi Trek in Volcanoes National Park leads to Ngezi Crater Lake, situated at the base of Bisoke Mountain within the park. The route typically requires 4 hours for a round trip with a park ranger, during which one can observe several species of monkeys and birds. This walk offers a glimpse of the Virunga Volcanoes in Volcanoes National Park, featuring notable sites such as a picturesque lake situated in a volcanic depression at the base of Mount Bisoke.

The briefest trek leads to Lake Ngezi, characterized by its rich foliage that provides a clear view of the lake.

There is an opportunity to observe wildlife, including a chameleon, antelope, buffalo, and elephant (or, if fortunate, a gorilla), along with breathtaking vistas of the treetops and mountains extending towards Uganda and the Congo. The expedition was accompanied by a guide, a porter, and two soldiers. It is characterized as not physically demanding, which is accurate for an individual of moderate fitness.

The Ngezi hike is exhilarating, with the possibility of encountering mountain gorillas foraging for sustenance and nurturing their families. Other volcanoes, notably Mount Bisoke, are visible. The elevations range from 2800 to 2900 meters above sea level. Commences in the morning for a duration of up to four hours of hiking.

Porters are present, as there are areas where their assistance effectively avoids an undignified fall into the mud. The path was lined with several stinging nettles, causing just a tingling sensation upon contact. Durable gloves proved beneficial, as did robust pants. Quality walking shoes or boots were necessary. We proceeded at my leisurely pace, which required around four hours of walking.
